Case Study – New Build Silicone Rendering in Great Moulton, Norfolk
We’re delighted to share another recently completed project, this time showcasing our silicone rendering work on a beautiful development of new build homes in Great Moulton, a village in South Norfolk between Diss and Norwich. As a team that’s proud to work right across East Anglia and beyond our Cambridge base, projects like this one are a great example of the quality and finish we bring to every job, wherever it is.
The Project
Our team was brought in to carry out full silicone rendering works across the development, which included detached two-storey homes and a stunning single-storey property, all built in a traditional Norfolk style with reclaimed-effect brickwork and pantile roofs. The render needed to complement these features while giving the homes a crisp, modern and low-maintenance finish that will look fantastic for years to come.
New build rendering comes with its own set of demands. With multiple trades on site and tight build schedules to meet, our teams worked closely with the developer to make sure our programme fitted seamlessly around the wider project, keeping everything on time and up to the high standards we always work to.
We’ve installed a wide range of Silicone Render and External Wall Insulation across the country as part of our works in 2026!
The Process
As with all of our rendering work, preparation is everything. Our teams began by carefully masking and protecting all windows, doors, brickwork and finished surfaces before applying the basecoat. Reinforcing mesh was embedded throughout to give the system strength and long-term crack resistance, with beading used to create clean, sharp lines around openings and edges.
Once the basecoat had fully cured, we applied a primer followed by the silicone render topcoat. For this project we used Johnstone’s Stormshield Silicone Enhanced Render in a 1.5mm finish — a premium, breathable and highly weather-resistant product from one of our trusted supplier partners. It’s a system we know inside out, and as Johnstone’s EWI & Render Installer of the Year, it’s one we’re proud to put our name to.
The result speaks for itself. The bright, clean render sits beautifully against the brick plinths and detailing, giving each home real kerb appeal and a finish that’s built to handle everything the Norfolk weather can throw at it.
Why Silicone Render?
Silicone render has become the go-to choice for new builds and renovations alike, and for good reason:
- Long-lasting colour – the colour runs all the way through the render, so there’s no repainting needed.
- Weather resistant – hydrophobic properties help the surface repel rain and resist algae and dirt, keeping it cleaner for longer.
- Breathable – moisture within the wall can escape, helping to protect the building fabric.
- Flexible – silicone render is far more resistant to cracking than traditional sand and cement render.
- Low maintenance – an occasional wash down is usually all that’s needed to keep it looking its best.
