Green Homes Grant
What is the scheme?
The Green Homes Grant voucher scheme is set up by the government where they will provide a voucher worth up to £5,000 or £10,000 to help cover the cost of energy efficient home improvements. These improvements include External Wall Insulation. A full list of the available improvements can be found here
Who can benefit?
Any homeowners, including social/private landlords, in England will be able to access the scheme to get up to £5,000. Those on lower incomes will be eligible for up to 100% funding, up to a maximum value of £10,000.
When does the scheme begin?
Unfortunately the scheme has now ended and no new applications are being considered. If you do have an existing voucher that has been approved or is processing then we still may be able to assist please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or fill in our contact form and we’ll do our best to help.
What is ECO?
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a government energy efficiency scheme in Great Britain to help reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty. This is done via installers carrying out compliant installations of energy efficiency measures. The measures available for ECO funding are:
- Loft Insulation
- Solid Wall Insulation
- Cavity Wall Insulation
- Boiler Replacement
- Boiler Repair
How do I qualify?
In order to qualify for ECO funding you or someone living in the household where the improvements will be installed must be on one of the following benefits:
- Armed Forces Independence Payment
- Attendance Allowance
- Carer’s Allowance
- Child Benefit (on the condition that the household’s relevant income does not exceed the amount set out in Chapter 3 of our scheme guidance)
- Constant Attendance Allowance
- Disability Living Allowance
- Pension Guarantee Credit
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Income Support
- Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
- Mobility Supplement
- Personal Independence Payment
- Severe Disablement Allowance
- Tax Credits (Child Tax Credits and Working Tax Credits)
- Universal Credit
How much funding can I get?
Unfortunately this is not an easy question to answer. The amount of funding depends on the type of property you live in, its detachment and how many bedrooms there are. For smaller measures such as loft insulation the funding may cover the full value while for more expensive measures such as solid wall insulation the funding will only cover a portion of the overall cost.
If you are on one of these benefits and are interested in external wall insulation or would like to know more then head over to our contact page and we’ll be happy to help.
Local councils and housing authorities can sometimes release their own specific forms of grants benefitting those in the local area. We regularly identify and keep up with grants in our areas of operation to ensure we can bring our customers the best deals.
Our main areas of work are as follows: Cambridge Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, East Anglia, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, London, Essex, Oxfordshire
Unfortunately due to the impact of COVID-19 most councils are not currently offering subsidies on energy efficiency and it is recommended that UK homeowners look to the Green Homes Grant for subsidised energy improvements.
