Strata Named INCA Awards 2026 Finalist for Cambridge City Council EWI Project
We’re incredibly proud to announce that Strata Insulated Renders has been shortlisted as a finalist in the INCA Awards 2026 for our external wall insulation work on the Cambridge City Council SHDF Wave 2.2 project.
The INCA Awards, run by the Insulated Render & Cladding Association — the trade association leading the UK EWI industry — celebrate the very best in external wall insulation, and to be shortlisted among the country’s top installers is a real honour for everyone at Strata.
The Shortlisted Project
Our finalist entry recognises the delivery of EWI to more than 140 uninsulated solid brick homes across Cambridge, carried out under Wave 2.2 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund — a continuation of our successful Wave 2.1 works, which saw almost 100 council properties upgraded in 2024.
Working alongside main contractor Aran Insulation, system supplier Johnstone’s PPG and Cambridge City Council, our teams installed the BBA-certified Johnstone’s Stormshield 110mm Mineral Wool EWI System, finished in Johnstone’s Stormshield Silicone Enhanced Render. The results are remarkable: wall U-values improved from 2.49 W/m²K to just 0.29 W/m²K — dramatically warmer homes, lower energy bills and reduced carbon emissions for every resident.
With over half a dozen property archetypes across the scheme, the project demanded bespoke detailing around passageways, bay windows, extensions and stepped façades, all delivered in line with PAS 2035 as part of a whole-house retrofit approach that also included loft insulation, new windows and doors, mechanical ventilation and more. The scheme even gave something back to local wildlife, with over 70 personalised bird boxes installed across the completed properties in support of Cambridge’s declining bird populations.

This shortlisting follows our recognition as Johnstone’s EWI & Render Installer of the Year in 2024, and reflects the standards our teams bring to every project — from large-scale social housing retrofits to individual homes across England in Cambridge, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Suffolk, Essex and beyond.
