External Wall Insulation Case Study – Essex PAS2030 Works
We’re back to show off more of the work we’ve recently completed in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. As always, our teams are excited to share more project details and photos showing the standards we work to and the process involved in some of our External Wall Insulation Projects.
Project Summary
Working alongside CCS & Sanctuary, Strata Insulated renders teams worked hard to install External Wall Insulation systems to 5 properties in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. All of the work was carried out under the Local Authority Delivery scheme (LAD) and all work was fully compliant with PAS2030 and PAS2035 standards.
The work included the installation of Johnstones Stormshield EWI system to each property following full manufactures and PAS2030 guidance with a 1.5mm silicone render finish. Work included provisions being made for roofline extensions where required, as well as suitable solutions to insulate behind gas utility boxes present on the properties to avoid thermal bridging. Works were also carried out below the damp proof course (DPC) of the properties. Adequate ventilation was also fitted to ensure full compliance with PAS2030 & PAS2035.

The Result
The Johnstones Stormshield External Wall Insulation system was installed with a 1.5mm Silicone Enhanced Topcoat and the colour chosen was White. Work was successfully completed meeting all required standards for PAS and LAD compliance, as well as meeting our own high standards of workmanship.
Thermal bridging as a result of the work has been heavily mitigated thanks to the roofline extensions, gas meter box insulation and below DPC insulation completed as a part of this work. This will help to ensure a lasting positive result from the work.
As a result tenants are now able to enjoy:
- A home that is adequately prepared for colder weather that will retain heat better and lower energy bills
- A brighter and refreshed exterior to their home
- Lower energy usage and costs for heating
